I am an amateur astronomer for over 40 years-most of that time a visual observer. Lately I have been involved with CCD imaging and along with other members of our local astronomy club (Rappahannock Astronomy Club-Fredericksburg, Virginia )have worked on building a remotely controlled observatory named in honor of the late Mark Slade. The Mark Slade Remote Observatory has a 12-inch LX-200 which is available for use by the public for free once trained on using the control software. Its purpose is to promote an interest in observing the wonders of the night sky, as well as a learning platform for those interested in astrophotography (which is what I use it for mostly). My first image uploaded was taken using this telescope and contains what I think might be a meteor trail (perhaps a member of the Anthelion group?)
