Perseid Fireball with double terminal burst and persistent train at burst locati
This video shows a Perseid Fireball which ends in a double terminal burst. The video is a sequence of 3-second still images captured from inside the dome of the Mark Slade Remote Observatory using an ASI 120mm webcam with a fish-eye lens mounted on a 12-inch LX-200. We use this camera to help aim the telescope as well as record sky conditions during observatory use. It is binned to 640x480, and compresses about 1 minute of time into 17 seconds. Note the double terminal burst as indicated by the persistent glowing train at the site of the burst with a break in it. As each frame is 3 seconds long the total event was more than 3 seconds long and less than 9 seconds.
