2015 Polar Perseid Composite with Ursa Minor
A composite of meteor trails captured on the night of August 12/13, 2015 using a Sony NEX-5N digital camera on a static tripod with Sony 35mm f/1.8 lens, wide open at ISO 1600. The camera was pointed at the Polaris to minimize star-trailing during the 15-second exposures. The camera was set in manual, continuous shooting mode, with the shutter release button held down with a small clamp. To prevent dew accumulating on the lens, it had a heater strip powered by a deep-cycle battery. Of almost 800 images only 30 showed meteor trails deemed worthy of including in this composite. I used Photoshop Elements 2.0 to assemble the composite, with further post processing with Adobe Lightroom 5. I took advantage of the green color of many of the meteors to boost the luminance in that color to enhance the meteor trails above the background star field. I can provide details of the method used to assemble the composite.
